Today's Trelleborg Bohemia, a.s. is a successor of RUBENA a.s. that was founded in 1999 by a merger of two up to then independent subjects, one of them was RUBENA Náchod, and the other GUMOKOV Hradec Králové.
The rubber industry in Náchod has a long tradition. Already in 1908 Josef Kudrnáč started the production of lubricans, seals, and other rubber products. In 1923 he took Ing. Jaroslav Haukaf as a partner, and together they started the production of technical rubber and subsequently other rubber products. In 1928 these two partners started the production of bicycle tires and tubes in Náchod. In 1929 they produced the first Czech car tire and tube.
After World War II. The privately owned company was turned into a state-owned company, and in 1947 given a new name - RUBENA (abbr. shall recall-Rubber Nachod). After the velvet revolution in 1989 it was privatized and in 1997 it became a part of the CGS holding.
Bicycle tires and inner tubes were manufactured exclusively in Náchod and Velké Poříčí under several trade names - Barum, Rubena and from 2015 they were rebranded to Mitas so that all production of tires and tubes within the holding was concentrated under one brand Mitas as it was a huge brand and player on the market of agricultural and industrial tires.
By the end of 2015, the Swedish Trelleborg Group acquired CGS holding, and thus all CGS companies were incorporated into the Trelleborg Group. RUBENA a.s. was renamed to Trelleborg Bohemia, a.s. effective from November 1, 2017
